Micro self-care for the season that asks you to slow down.

For some of us the clocks have just gone back, and for all of us the air has that Autumn bite and our bodies are starting to ask for something different. That's not something to push through. It's the season talking, and it's worth listening to.

Autumn is the season that naturally asks less of us, which makes it the perfect time to discover that micro self-care, the small, barely-there moments already in your day, is often the most restorative kind.

Here are a few simple ways to nurture yourself this autumn without adding anything extra to your plate:

Step outside, even for two minutes. The days are shorter and the light is low, but the fresh air is still there. Cold air on your face, feet on actual ground. Your nervous system responds to being outside even when the weather isn't perfect. You don't need sunshine for it to count.

Reframe the grey days When the sky is flat and your first instinct is to write the day off, try shifting the question from "what have I lost today" to "what does today actually allow." A rainy afternoon is a reason to slow cook something warm, light a candle earlier than feels reasonable, or do something indoors. The day isn't wasted. It just looks different.

Let yourself move at a slower pace When you feel the pull to stay in, let yourself stay in. When you want an early night, have one. These aren't signs that something is wrong. They're signs that your body is doing exactly what it's supposed to do as the season changes.

Notice the small moments and let them be enough The warmth of your hands around a cup of tea. The quiet after the kids go to bed. The satisfaction of pulling on a jumper that feels like a hug. These moments are already woven into your day. The only question is whether you're moving too fast to receive them.

You don't have to feel bright and energised right now. The season isn't asking that of you. Just a little more gentleness. A little more permission to be exactly where you are.

We hope this season is treating you kindly.

With love,
