Queens of self care, Peggy Sue founders, Shanah and Alysha know whats up when it comes to recharging those batteries, and they've shared their tops tips with us! Read on to find some inspiration for self care this week.
The act of self-care can often be overlooked, but setting aside time for yourself and the things that bring you joy is the perfect way to recharge and recenter.
Perhaps, you've been feeling burnt out lately, or you've noticed that you are becoming overwhelmed at the most minor things and all you really need to do is find a few quiet minutes to prioritise yourself.
It is no secret that at Peggy Sue, we are big advocates for creating beautiful moments of self-care. So, we've listed 5 ways to recharge that will have you feeling your usual self in no time at all, and always remember that there is no one-size-fits-all, so keep exploring and finding the things that REALLY bring you joy.
So, here are our 5 ways to recharge:
- Pamper yourself with beautiful skincare products
As a skincare company, we absolutely LOVE this one and for a good reason! Simply find a quiet space in your bathroom or home and start by gently cleansing your face and closing your eyes as you massage the product into your skin. Once you've washed off the day, follow it with a face mask. Our At-Home Facial is a diverse product that is a rare treat, as it gives you the ability to enjoy a spa-like treatment in the comfort of your own home. The creamy face mask base is filled with physical exfoliating beads that combines the exfoliating + mask step for an even more indulgent skin treatment and will leave your skin feeling out of this world soft! Simply apply in circular motions, leave on for 5-10 minutes and during this time, put your feet up, close your eyes and feel instantly calm. After gently removing with a cloth, follow with your favourite moisturiser and VIOLA - beautiful glowing skin and a few minutes to truly recenter and take care of you.
- Read a juicy book
I must admit I don't always love reading, but when I find a good book and after reading a juicy chapter, my soul feels recharged. I think because, during this time, I have the opportunity to completely switch off. There is no looking at your phone or reading emails. It's just a few minutes with yourself and the words on the page.
- Spend time with loved ones
This is a big one for me. I absolutely love spending time with my daughter Peggy and Husband Shaun. They are my tribe and every minute that I get to spend with them is a blessing. We often go on little adventures together to get ice cream or relax next to our fire pit, roasting marshmallows, swiftly followed by many hugs!
- Explore nature
Living on the South Coast means we are blessed with gorgeous beaches and green escarpments. I love to explore both and find a sense of calm out of the busyness of the day.
- Practice Gratitude
It seems simple and silly to even mention this one, but it can often feel like we are SO busy that we just forget to practice gratitude and be thankful for what we have and what we have achieved. Practicing gratitude is also a great way to put things into perspective. Simply grab a piece of paper, write three things you are grateful for today, and repeat. A simple action that can help you acknowledge the people around you and how far you have come.
Always remember that it's okay to slow down because prioritising you and the act of self-care will also benefit you and those around you.
