Tell us a bit about the person/people behind Golden Grind…
Golden Grind was created by Tahli and Renwick Watts and Sage Greenwood. Tahli is a certified nutritional scientist with a love for health and nutrition. Having owned and worked in various cafes, she’s a wealth of information about the hospitality industry. Renwick is a sportsman with a degree in Business Marketing and an extensive history in hospitality. Sage is an ex-model with a law degree and nerdy love for data and numbers. We all have had and still have our reasons to care for and nourish our bodies. We live in South East Melbourne and are massive dog lovers.
What would an average day in the life look like for you?
Well we all still have full-time jobs, so Golden Grind runs after hours and on weekends. Plus we all exercise and find time for balance so our days are long and very, very full. We wake at 6am and either exercise or have team meetings. We work our day jobs from 8.30-6pm and then come home for dinner and a couple time before doing a couple of hours each night on Golden Grind. Let’s just say there is no time for TV!
It sounds like you’re flat out having to run your business work full time, how do you maintain your own health and wellness whilst being so busy?
Balance. Good food and nutrition, and park time with the dogs.
What inspired you to want to start Golden Grind?
Probably the fact that we are all so passionate about health and well being and because we saw a gap in the market. At the time of creating Golden Lattes, there was no such thing and we loved the idea of setting a trend with something that is so genuinely good for you.
What have been the biggest trials so far in starting and running Golden Grind?
Probably being time poor. And always having so much to do. Lucky there’s 3 of us. We also find it hard to really portray how passionate and genuine we really are and make sure we continue to set ourselves apart from the now, many competitors.
Here at Retreat Yourself, we LOVE dreaming BIG – what is your vision for Golden Grind?
We are going to be the most known, most successful and largest turmeric brand in the western world!
For anyone out there wanting to start their own business, what would your biggest piece of advice be?
Do your research. Be true to what you're trying to achieve. Pay attention to detail. Work hard – but always keep a balance and be ready to make sacrifices.
