We were lucky enough to feature the beautiful Salt+Glow Love Elixr in our Spring Box and it was a hit! The gorgeous fragrance of the multi-purpose oil won the hearts of our customers.
Not only are their products amazing, but their vision to create pure natural products that are not only kind to your skin but they also send a deeper message, that you are – brave, valued and so loved – resonated so deeply with the team here at Retreat Yourself and we knew this partnership was one we couldn’t look past.
Like Retreat Yourself, Salt+Glow understand the importance of finding time to take time out to be still and reconnect with your true essence. Once you’ve looked after yourself, you can then bring your best self into every-day life.
We interviewed the absolutely gorgeous Roxy, the face behind the Salt+Glow brand, to hear her story about how Salt+Glow came to life…
Tell us a bit about the person/people behind Salt+Glow
My name is Roxy and grew up in Sydney. I would consider myself quite creative as I’ve dabbled in playing piano, been a makeup and hair artist. I’m an avid cook and I enjoy writing.
Bali is my favourite place to be and when Bali is not on the itinerary, the local beach is where you would most likely find me.
Everyone on board this venture has a huge heart to love and serve, and this makes Salt+Glow the best environment to work at.
What would an average day in the life look like for you?
I wake up and hustle until that day’s tasks are over. I’m not much of a procrastinator. I like to do what I can before other things start creeping up. My day involves communicating and meeting up with clients, making products, packing parcels, ordering supplies and planning ahead. I also take all the product photos and write inspirational quotes for social media.
We can imagine you’re flat out having to run Salt+Glow – how do you maintain your own health and wellness whilst being so busy?
I make time to see friends during the week in between all the productiveness. On Sundays, I usually switch off my phone for a few hours and zone out – have a bath, read or watch a movie.
Cooking most of my meals at home allows me to maintain a balanced diet. I also squeeze in yoga sessions to keep my body agile. All of these are crucial to nourish my mind, body and spirit so I can bring my best self into my everyday life.
What inspired you to want to start Salt+Glow?
I was soaking in a bath tub on a rare occasion as I was gifted a present to use in the tub. As I was soaking there, I realised how important it is to take time out for myself. Then a thought came to me that I should make products to encourage women to do the same and pamper themselves too! I felt incredibly rejuvenated when I came out of the tub. I was absolutely ready for whatever life wanted to throw at me and I wanted to pass that refreshed feeling onto everyone!
What have been the biggest trials so far in starting and running Salt+Glow?
The biggest trial would be time management. Doing everything from replying emails to product making can be very time consuming. Another trial would be sifting through all the potential collaborators and clients who are keen to partner up with us because it is important for us to work with like-minded people. People and companies whose goals, ethics and morals are the same as ours.
Here at Retreat Yourself, we LOVE dreaming BIG – what is your vision for Salt+Glow?
My vision for Salt+Glow is that it will grow globally! To have products not just for women but men, babies and the entire household! Ideally, Salt+Glow will be running self-sufficiently with adequate and trusted staff to manage the brand. This way, I can spend more time at Roslin Orphanage in Indonesia, in which we support with the profits from the So Loved range.
For anyone out there wanting to start their own business, what would your biggest piece of advice be?
Be passionate! Love what you do! Don’t focus on the result because results will come when you focus on how others can benefit! Let what you do be an overflow of who YOU ARE! Because WHO YOU ARE is more important than what you can do!
