Modern Twist on an Old Aussie Favourite – Interview with Fiona Whatley

Australian Family Business Springhill Farm has launched some delicious vegan and gluten free slice products as part of their revamped range. With flavours including Almond and Choc Chip, Coconut and Dark Choc, and the Classic Rocky Road; Springhill Farm’s mouthwatering treats are the little slice of paradise you need to complete your time out moment so you can reset and recharge.

5 minutes with Fiona Whatley – Springhill Farm GM and self-confessed second-gen slice tragic.

You’ve had some exciting things in the works recently with a complete rebrand and the release of a new product range, it must be lovely to see your hard work come to life?!

I am thrilled to finally share Springhill Farm’s new range with the world. We are passionate about bringing slice from the bake sale to the masses – our new gluten free and vegan flavours complete our offering, helping to make our slice accessible to more people; we hope you really enjoy them!

Springhill Farm is unashamedly focused on making farmhouse kitchen inspired treats that taste great and that complete your time out moments. We believe that everyone deserves a little time out moment in order to improve their quality of life.

We know Springhill Farm has a long history, can you tell us a little about how it all began?

We’ve been around for over 35 years; it all started with my Mum baking slice for school children visiting our farm, as an early paddock to plate model – they learnt about where their food came from, and at the end of the day were treated to a muesli slice on the hay bales. Word soon spread about my Mum’s delicious slice and soon she started baking full time to keep up with the orders.

35 years later many things have changed; we are in a bigger factory (just up the road from our original farm), we proudly employ over 50 people in the local area, and our products can be found nationwide. What hasn’t changed is our commitment to making delicious farmhouse inspired treats, right here in regional Victoria.

Spring Hill Farm

You’re a huge proponent for the importance of me-time, how does this inspire your work?

Now more than ever we think that people need our products. Everyone seems to be go-go-go from the moment they wake up, their ‘to do lists’ are never ending, and their minds whirl until their head hits the pillow late into the evening – and even beyond. Personally, I can struggle to juggle the responsibilities of being a mum and owning and running a business. You hear it all the time, but often it’s your own time out moment that is the first thing that is forgotten in the day-to-day chaos. Our products are about making it easy (and delicious) to complete your time out moment.

We believe that everyone deserves to take a time out moment, however that might look for you; it might be taking 5 to enjoy a cuppa, going for a walk in the fresh air, or sitting back with your retreat day planner and taking in what the day will bring. Our bite sized slices are designed to complement these moments – and help YOU recharge.

We hope you enjoy our products as much as we enjoyed making them.
