While it is quite common to fill our vanity cupboards with a variety of creams, serums and lotions to help keep our faces and bodies looking hydrated, glowing and ultimately flawless, it is quite rare to show the same amount of love to our feet.
Dry, cracked, or tired feet can occur when we neglect this vital part of our body - they are one of the hardest working parts of our bodies after all!
Here we share a simple 3-step treatment to have your feet feeling soft, smooth and replenished, that can easily be done at home.
Feet have fewer oil glands than the rest of the body, so soaking them to soften and loosen dry skin is hugely beneficial and will provide benefits that can’t be gained in a quick 5 minute shower.
Simply add some warm water in a large bowl, and pop your feet in for 10 minutes. Some really beneficial additions to the water include:
After soaking is the best time to exfoliate - when all the dry skin has softened. Doing this will assist in removing dry skin, and also help get the blood flowing.
A loofah or something equally as abrasive is great to use here, but you could also use a coarse salt scrub.
Exfoliate the whole foot, paying extra special attention to your heels.
Lastly, to replenish the moisture, make your skin look and feel soft, and to prevent your feet drying out again, apply a naturally replenishing foot balm enriched with humectants.
Applying a foot balm daily can help to prevent the skin on your feet from getting dry and rough, and can assist in the avoidance of more extreme issues like cuts, blisters and calluses when feet are exposed to the elements. The cooling sensation from a foot balm can also help to offset the discomfort of tired feet and the moisturising properties can assist in repairing dry or damaged cuticles for optimal nail health.
The best solution is to use a product that contains natural or naturally-derived ingredients. Some key ingredients to look for in a foot balm are:
And while it is important to look out for quality ingredients, it’s just as important to consider the ingredients that you don’t want in your Foot Balm. Ingredients to avoid include sulphates, silicones and parabens, and other harsh ingredients that can further irritate the skin.
Natures Commonscents’ Goats Milk & Peppermint Oil Soothing Foot Balm is infused with natural peppermint oil, lavender oil & menthol, and importantly, don’t include unnecessary ingredients such as parabens and artificial fragrance. The perfect remedy to soothe and moisturise dry, cracked feet, daily.

They believe that what they don’t put in their products is just as important as what they do put into them.
