Special guest, Mary Gouganovski of Mary Grace takes us through her favourite ingredients for skin care and why they are just so good!
Our bath and body range has been specially formulated for those with sensitive skin and all of our ingredients are naturally derived and filled with amazing ingredients to re-hydrate and nourish your skin. To say I love our hand cream is an understatement. For those who know me, they know that I am a sensitive petal. Allergic to most things. In fact, all my life, I’ve only ever been able to use one cream. So when I launched our bath and body range, it was imperative I find something that was not only amazing in its formulation, but that it was one the most sensitive of souls could use. Honestly, I think we nailed it.
Like with most of the Mary Grace products, a little goes a long way. This cream is thin and light, easy to spread and covers a vast area with a small amount on the palm. It absorbs quickly and lasts so long, you can’t help but touch the surface you’ve applied it too. She’s non-greasy, too. My mum absolutely loves using it because she can quickly pop some on her hands, rub it in and keep on going with her crocheting and never has to worry about the oils transferring onto and staining her wool. Honestly, I could go on all day about why I love this cream but there’s more to it than its topical goodness. Let’s take a deep dive into the hero ingredients that make this one of the best things you’ll put on your body!
Apricot Kernel Oil
Apricot Kernel Oil is very similar to the natural sebum produced in human skin, a substance created by your body’s sebaceous glands that coat and protect the skin. When applied topically, this oil is fantastic for helping to reduce redness and inflammation, acne and symptoms of maturing skin. It's non greasy and facilitates the healing of damaged or wounded skin..
Wheat Germ Oil
An incredible cocktail of Vitamins E, D, A, B, antioxidants and fatty acids. Applied topically to the skin, this incredible oil can help reduce skin damage, help form healthy collagen which evens and tightens the skin and fights free radicals. It’s also a fantastic face cleanser, known to remove excess sebum which can create acne and pimples. It’s also great for helping to reduce scarring.
Cocoa Butter
Cocoa Butter has a high fat content which helps to create a protective barrier across your skin. A barrier that aids in retaining moisture, from a product that may also help to improve blood flow and slow the signs of aging - especially when caused by damaging UV rays.
Grapefruit Seed Extract
An amazing ingredient for sensitive or troubled skin, Grapefruit Seed Extract has antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties. It’s excellent when used on problematic skin, especially those with acne, eczema or dermatitis.
Vitamin E
Pure Vitamin E is fantastic when used to enhance the properties of other ingredients in a formula! It’s easily absorbed and applying it topically may increase the amount of Vitamin E stored within the sebaceous glands. It helps to reduce the speed in which facial products applied to the skin dissipate when exposed to UV light - making anything you put on your face naturally last longer and is fantastic for reducing acute and chronic skin damage from UV rays.
Shea Butter
You’ll be familiar with this name as you would be with cocoa butter. Shea Butter is high in fat and contains an incredible array of fatty acids and vitamins to help sooth, calm and condition your skin. It boasts anti-inflammatory properties and may help to heal the skin's surface.
Rosemary Extract
Like a few other ingredients in this cream, Rosemary Extract can be beneficial in reducing redness, puffiness and ailments such as eczema and dermatitis. The herb contains medicinal properties.
