Whether it's to curb the cravings or for an energy boost to keep us going through the afternoon, we can probably all agree that healthy snacks are an important part of our day.
So when we first tried the Get Farmed Yippeas, it was love at first bite, which is exactly why we had to sit down with founder Lynne Skene to learn the story behind these delicious chickpea puffs.
Tell us a bit about the people behind Get Farmed!
I’m Lynne, the founder of the Get Farmed! range of products. Get Farmed started from my kitchen table, packing product and delivering to my local customers. After 7 years we have now expanded into our own warehouse located in Williamstown, Victoria.
Before having a family, I was professionally engaged to promote Australian food ingredients to food manufacturers in Asia. This was a role that I relished because as a food scientist, I was communicating an Australian food story that I truly believed. I was proud of Australia’s high quality, pure food products, born out of such a clean, green environment.
What inspired you to start your Get Farmed! and when did this happen?
It was only natural when I became a mother that I developed a heightened sensitivity for the need for healthy, natural food. Whilst trying to find the right nutritious foods for my family, I realised that a rapidly increasing proportion of food products and ingredients are being sourced from overseas.
The idea that the nourishing bounty produced by Australian farmers was being by-passed was the tipping point in inspiring me to take action. Hence, Get Farmed! The food brand with a mission was born.
Our mission is simple: Provide healthy, natural foods sourced locally with honesty, integrity and sustainability to support our Australian farmers.
How do you make your products?
We work closely with our Australian ingredient suppliers to ensure we start with the highest quality. We then visit with our selected manufacturers to develop and trial new products that suit the Australian market, with the highest possible level of Australian grown ingredients.
What is your favourite product in your range?
I love our Yippeas Salt and Vinegar Chickpea Puffs, great for a healthy afternoon pick me up. Although we have some new products launching very soon which are fast becoming my new favourites!
What is your favourite way to enjoy your products?
With a glass of wine on a Friday night to celebrate the wins of the week!
What is an interesting way of using your products that not many people would know about?
For a tasty, gluten free schnitzel crumb, simply whizz a packet of our Yippea Lime and Cracked Pepper Chickpea Puffs in a blender for a couple of seconds and coat your chicken, for a zesty and zingy gluten free coating!
What is your favourite way of winding down and taking time out?
Heading off with the family to a remote, country escape. Time to recharge, appreciate our beautiful land and reconnect.

For anyone out there wanting to start their own business, what would your biggest piece of advice be?
Be prepared to work harder than you ever have before and love every minute of it! Seriously, have a clear plan and vision for what you want to achieve, but be flexible as things rarely go to plan.

Having a healthy family around to support each other through the times when things get a little touch and celebrate the wins we each achieve.
