Alya Skin tell us the skin benefits of Australian pink clay and why it's more than just a pretty colour!
Sourced in South Australia, Australian pink clay (also known as kaolin clay) is a mix of incredibly rich minerals including quartz, mica and montmorillonite. It’s beautiful pink hue is a result of its rich mineral content, and being naturally high in silica, zinc and magnesium it’s more than just a pretty coloured powder. This mineral-rich composition helps to restore, replenish and regenerate for cleaner, softer and firmer looking and feeling skin.
So what do these minerals actually do for your skin?
- Silica - natural anti-inflammatory substance that also assists with retaining moisture
- Magnesium - regulates cellular regeneration and repair
- Zinc - contains anti-inflammation properties and may help soothe skin irritation, clear acne-causing bacteria and reduce oil production
- Quartz - skin-calming and healing properties
- Mica - provides a natural shimmery finish
- Montmorillonite - helps remove impurities from pores by its absorbent properties and can be helpful for oily skin
Out of all the clays used in skincare these days, Australian Pink Clay is regarded as the most gentle there is and is safe for all types of sensitive skin.
The Alya Skin Pink Clay Mask is specifically formulated with vitamin E, aloe vera and witch hazel. This unique treatment defends the skin against pollutants of oil, dirt and toxins. It cleanses and revitalises the epidermis for a brighter, clearer complexion.
Here are our favourite ways to use the Alya Skin Australian Pink Clay Mask:
1. Face Mask
Apply an even layer to clean dry skin. Try to avoid your eye area, eyebrows, hairline and lips. Leave it on for 10 minutes, light some candles and put on your favourite music or get cosy and read a book. Once you’re feeling totally relaxed and the mask is dry, gently remove with a warm, damp cloth. Finish with your favourite moisturiser and repeat 2-3 a week for best results.
Don’t have 10 minutes? Pop it on at the beginning of your shower, removing as the last step before getting out. This doubles as a gentle exfoliator, with dead skin cells washing away as you lightly massage your skin under the water to remove the clay.
2. Spot Treatment
Tackle breakouts by using the clay mask as a spot treatment. Before bed, apply the product to your spots with a cotton bud. Overnight, the clay will dry out the spot and speed up the healing process. In the morning, dampen a cloth with warm water and hold against the area to loosen the clay and then gently remove any residue.
3. Back-ne Solution
Not only is this mask effective on the face, but it’ll fight away painful back-ne too! Apply an even layer onto your back before showering. Leave it on for 10 minutes or until dry. Hop into the shower and wash away with a cloth or loofah. Be sure to use a body lotion after showering, repeat every day for best results.
