How to live your best eco-friendly life...

How to live your best eco-friendly life...

Looking for new ways you can decrease your footprint on the earth? Aren't we all?! Our friends over at Freshwater Farm (name ring a bell? Their Shampoo and Conditioner Bars are featured in our 'Bloom' retreat!) live and breathe sustainable living. It’s Freshwater Farm's love for the earth that motivates them to be an eco-friendly brand, and to introduce eco-friendly practices into theirs and their customers lives. So we asked the Freshwater Farm team for their top 5 tips to help you live your best eco-friendly life.

Look for naturally derived personal care products...
Think about it, any chemicals or nasties in your personal care products end up flowing straight from your drain into the ocean. This is extremely harmful to marine ecosystems and especially coral reefs which are the main provider of oxygen to our earth!

Be packaging conscious…
Try to look out for items with reusable or recyclable packaging. This is a small way you can reduce your impact on the earth by minimising the waste you leave. For example, if you forget your water bottle and you have to buy one on the go, try opting for a cardboard or glass packaged water.

Bring your own…
This one is super easy to do but will have such a huge impact! Bring your own reusables when you are eating or drinking out to reduce the waste you create. This includes (but is of course not limited to) items such as metal straws, keep cups, wooden utensils and reusable shopping bags. You can find all of these items at a wide range of stores including Woolworths and Coles. Keep these items in your bag for use on the go and that way you can say no to that plastic fork for your lunch or the paper cup for your morning coffee!

Switch off the water while you lather…
Cut down on your water wastage by turning off the water in the shower whilst you lather soap on your body and apply shampoo or conditioner. Switching off the water flow for even a minute can make a world of difference.

Make your bathroom greener…
Installing little planters or integrating plants into your bathroom - whether it be on the vanity, within the shower, or on your shower windowsill - are little hacks that will have your bathroom looking greener and fresher. We’re not saying to go out and spend a bomb on pots and terrariums; we’re thinking easier than that - left over jam jars, glass bottles, even as simple as a teacup that you no longer use.

It's the little 1%’s that will make the big difference in the end!

Freshwater Farm is a family-owned farm situated on the Mid-North Coast of NSW. The farm is home to nearly 100 acres of native botanical plants, and a special place for owner Al Hutcherson, family and friends to escape the hustle and bustle and connect with nature.

The Australian natives grown at Freshwater Farm are then made into pure essential oils that are then used in their range of bath and body products, all of which are made in Sydney.

Freshwater Farm's Shampoo and Conditioner Bars are included in our 'Bloom' Retreat. Everything is 100% Australian made, never tested on animals, cruelty free and vegan friendly, with their impact on the environment always front of mind.
