When we came across Wild Fox Apothecary we were instantly blown away with the stunning design and functionality. To then discover they're made from all natural and organic products utilising native Moroccan ingredients, so we simply had to know more!
Which is exactly why we sat down with founder and creative director Nicole Louise, to talk all things skincare and learn a little more about how Wild Fox Apothecary came to fruition.
Tell us a bit about the people behind Wild Fox Apothecary:
I am qualified Cosmetologist and lifelong lover of all things skincare and beauty with a background in Social Welfare.
I am proud to partner with a fair trade co-operative of women artisans in Morocco. This collaboration provides Wild Fox with the highest grade Argan, oil, Prickly Pear Seed oil, Rose Water and Ghassoul clay available while providing and ensuring the financial independence, growth and sustainability of the Berber women their families and community.
What inspired you to start Wild Fox and when did you start it?
Wild Fox Apothecary was brought to life in 2017 by a desire to create a line of luxury organic skincare that transforms and elevates beauty routines with aromatic rituals of multitasking products formulated to encourage nurturing time outs.
On a personal level, I battle with depression and anxiety and have had to find ways to take care of my mental health, for me beauty rituals offer a much needed quiet time and respite. In a world where "busy" is glorified, I wanted to offer a line of results driven, all natural products that encourage and embrace self care. Slow beauty is at the heart of who we are.
How do you make Wild Fox Apothecary products?
Our Argan Oil and Prickly Pear Seed Oil is made by hand by women artisans in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. It is supplied to us fresh in small batches along with our Moroccan Rose Water, Ghassoul Clay and Beldi Soap. All our other products are formulated and crafted by hand by myself in small batches using organic plant oils, botanicals, clays, butters and essential oils. Wild Fox products are free of preservatives, palm oil and all other nasties. We are truly natural.
What is your favourite way to enjoy the Wild Fox products?
Once a week I create a traditional Hammam Spa in the comfort of my own bathroom. Once in the shower I apply our Beldi Soap then step out, adjusting the water to create steam. I apply Ghassoul clay to my damp hair then relax while enjoying the steam. After five minutes I re-enter the shower and remove the Beldi Soap with our exfoliating Kessa Mitt and rinse the Ghassoul mask out of my hair. I add some Rose Water to a warm bath (or Ghassoul Clay if I want to detox) and apply Ghassoul clay as a facial mask. I submerge in the aromatic water, misting my face mask with Rose Water if it starts to feel dry. I like to enjoy a glass of wine or mint tea (mood depending) and of course surrounded by candles.
After bathing I rinse off my face mask and while my skin is still damp apply Argan oil to my face, body and ends of my hair. Not only is my skin incredibly soft and glowing but mentally I feel so calm, relaxed and renewed.
What is your favourite product in your range?
I would have to say my "can't live without" "desert island" favourite product would be our Argan Oil. We offer the highest quality, first cold pressed, fair trade Ecocert and USDA Certified organic Argan oil available.
It is loaded with antioxidants, omega fatty acids and vitamin e, is suitable for all ages and genders and is a multitasking powerhouse. It is excellent in targeting fine lines and combating the signs of skin ageing, protects from free radicals, soothes skin inflammation, sunburn and medical conditions such as eczema and psoriasis. Argan oil is also brilliant for nails and hair to strengthen, protect, style and tame frizz and flyaways. It's a "must have" in your beauty arsenal.
What is an interesting way of using Wild Fox products that people may not know about?
Wild Fox is a multitasking collection of skincare essentials designed to complement each other and do more than enhance the look of your skin, they make you feel good too.
For example, our Floral Oil is more than just a body and hair oil. We've immersed a proprietary blend of therapeutic grade essential oils formulated to lift and enhance mood in antioxidant rich, organic plant oils that nourish and hydrate skin and hair. It can be used as an all-natural perfume that can help ease stress and tension and boost mood, as a body, hair and bath oil to soften and hydrate skin or mixed with Ghassoul Clay for an extra nourishing face or hair mask. Our Rose Water can also be used is a variety of ways. It's perfect for layering under oils to boost absorption, as a skin toner it helps balance skins pH and refine texture, mix with Ghassoul for an antioxidant rich mask. Spritz to set and re-fresh make-up and freshen and soften hair throughout the day. Rose Water's anti-inflammatory properties help to ease sunburn, reduce redness and skin irritations. For anyone out there wanting to start their own business what would your biggest piece of advice be?
Do what you love! I was asked "what would I be doing if I weren't running Wild Fox?"; and my first thought was I would be creating these products. I eat, sleep, dream Wild Fox and although I'm still finding my feet, forever making mistakes, learning and evolving I truly love what I do. Learn as much as you can, stay true to your vision and believe in yourself.
