Night time wind down - 60 mins

Night time wind down - 60 mins

How often do you actually give yourself a chance to properly slow down and unwind after a long day? We’ll take a guess that your evenings are filled with making dinner, cleaning, putting the kids to bed, preparing lunches, then plopping on the couch for a Netflix marathon?

Realistically, your brain doesn’t switch off until you hit the sack. And even then, the mind keeps racing, making it hard to truly relax. Sound familiar?

If you've been struggling to get a good night's sleep, you’re longing for some help to wind down, or simply craving that cozy, warm winter feeling, then this Retreat Ritual is for you.

---

Time required: 60 mins

Feel relaxed, feel calm.

What you'll need: You can find all of the products you'll need for this Retreat Ritual here.

Instructions:

1. Get your journal out and do a brain dump of everything that’s on your mind.
Everything you need to do, whether it’s putting the bins out, making lunches, calling your mum, taking your car to the mechanics - whatever it is, get it out of your mind and onto paper. This will make you feel at ease, knowing you’re on top of everything you need to do (you can look at this in the morning).

2. Connect with your breath and do a body scan.
Take 5 long deep breaths, breathing in and out through your nose. This will help switch you into rest & digest mode. Scan your whole body from your feet up, to see if you're holding onto any tension from the day. Actively relax each body part.

3. Wash your face and cleanse the day away.
While you do this, do it mindfully. Is the water warm or cold, how does the cleanser feel on your skin?

4. Have a long hot shower or bath.
This will help you slow down and scrub away anything you’re holding onto. Hot water has a calming effect on the nervous system, making it a great thing to do before drifting off to sleep.

5. Hop into bed and practice gratitude.
Think of all of the things you’re grateful for from the day that’s been. This will get you into a beautiful state of mind to drift off to sleep.
